Bio

Born in the vibrant city of Milan, Consuelo grew up surrounded by a rich musical heritage: a mandolin-playing grandmother, a guitar-strumming grandfather, an uncle who was a singer-songwriter, and a father who worked as a radio DJ in Venezuela and played the accordion. Her mother’s constant humming filled their family home with music — setting the stage for Consuelo’s first piano lessons at the age of nine, after starting tickling her beloved Farfisa  keyboard for the age of two.

From the Italian sounds of Salvatore Adamo and Lucio Battisti to the haunting scores of her favourite Japanese anime Candy Candy, music has always shaped Consuelo’s world. Her classical piano studies focused on Chopin and Debussy, while her teenage years brought the hook-laden pop of Duran Duran, Madonna, ABBA, and dance hits into the mix — alongside a love for the theatrical depth of The Doors and the rich harmonies of The Beach Boys. Film scores by Ennio Morricone sparked her passion for cinematic instrumentals, and the melodic craftsmanship of Burt Bacharach and John Denver taught her the power of timeless melodies.

After an attempt to enter the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory to pursue a concert pianist career didn’t materialise, Consuelo pivoted briefly to teaching but never let go of her musical calling. She joined her first band as a keyboardist in a Dire Straits tribute group before moving to Manchester in 1995 to learn English and study music technology. There she earned her BA (Hons) in Music Recording from Salford University, specialising in Composition and Production — while playing in bands at iconic venues like the Night & Day Café and deepening her love for jazz piano under the influence of Bill Evans.

Fuelled by new songs and a fierce DIY spirit, Consuelo recorded her first demo featuring guest vocalists — but when hopes of finding big-name collaborators stalled, she took singing lessons to carve her own path as a recording artist. This led to run-ins with a grumpy neighbour and even the Environment Agency, who chased her for practising scales in her tiny Manchester flat. So, in 2006, she packed up, hit the road, and landed in rural Cornwall — where she traded cleaning duties for studio time to record her first acoustic piano EP.
