Behind the Scenes 

‘…It sounds like an Halloween sound…’

This month's behind the scenes clip is exclusive to subscribers like you! It comes from a mixing session I had via Musiversal for my upcoming Christmas song “It's Really Christmas”. It captures mixing engineer Robert Evans and me working on the ‘theremin’ sound that keyboardist Felipe Ribeiro programmed on synth. To me it sounds really authentic, but it also has a ghostly character 👻 

The best creative moments often happen when you stop asking: "What do I have?" And start asking: "What can I make?"

‘Classy’

This month I am revisiting the first K-pop song I co-wrote. When the lyrics are in English, as opposed to Korean, I can't tell the difference between K-pop and pop. Can you? 
“Classy” has definitely got a happy and energetic vibe! Its playful lyrics and upbeat rhythm exude positivity and fun, making it a song that uplifts listeners while maintaining a cheeky, lighthearted tone. It’s a song that doesn’t take itself too seriously, inviting listeners to embrace their quirks while feeling bold and classy.

Pop, Pop, Pop!

This month's playlist is a collection of pop anthems that I admire either because i love the melody, production, lyrical concept or the vocal delivery. Whenever I listen to these songs, I can't help thinking: "I wish I had written that!" These songs make me want to become a better songwriter. Next year, I want to immerse myself in the art of writing hook-filled pop hits, so watch the space 🤪

“The Creative Lens": Bring Back Intros!

Last month I launched “The Creative Lens”, a dedicated LinkedIn monthly newsletter to discuss and challenge the ideas shaping artistry, identity and connection. 

The first edition is called “Bring Back Intros” which talks about whether we should bring longer intros back into songs, and whether the rules shaping how songs are heard need to be challenged, so music can once again unfold.
